  13.     Every time someone connects to the internet with a single phone line 
  14. they are cutting anyone off who wants to reach them.  I need to remain 
  15. available but cannot afford another line.  Does anyone know how to do this?
  16.     I have tried call waiting, a telephone service which produces a beep 
  17. on the line when another call is waiting, after which you use the hangup 
  18. switch to switch between calls.  I had hoped this interference would hang the 
  19. computer up, letting me answer the other call.  This did not happen, nor was 
  20. the tone loud enough to hear over the computer's noise.
  21.     Is there any program I can get which will hangup at the interference 
  22. of the beep?  Or perhaps something which reduces the volume of the modem's 
  23. communication noise?  I have noticed that the sound switches between two 
  24. volumes, the lower of which I can hear the tone on.  Does anyone know how this 
  25. problem can be solved? Everyone must have to deal with the same thing.
